I actually own the older yellow model.
I understand the newer model has an upgraded grill and can measure the appropriate amount of car wash.
That's fine and it certainly is an improvement over the model that I have but the two units still look the same and suffer from one big problem.
That problem is that they are too big to be used effectively as wash buckets. They are light when they are empty but once you fill them with six gallons of water, they become quite cumbersome. Just picture a steep driveway and a runaway bucket with six gallons of water! Luckily my yellow model does not have the casters so I don't have to picture that scenario. But then again, I can't move the bucket around easily because it is heavy.
I personally use a standard Rubbermaid bucket to wash my car and I use this Ultimate Car Wash Bucket to store my detailing brushes. I tried to wash my car with this bucket a few times but I just found using a standard old bucket to be more effective. In the end, car washing is not a science, you don't need grit guards and all this fancy stuff. I mean what is a grit guard going to do for you? Some debris will still make their way to the good water.
As a storage bucket, it's great and it holds all my long-handled brushes and small brushes. I am happy with the product because it solves another problem for me in that it holds a lot of my detailing supplies.
I'll give it 4 stars because it's an awkward wash bucket but a great storage bucket. Considering the price, I'm sure you could find a better alternative for either use.

I've had this bucket for a few years and LOVE it. The size is right for car washes and it has a handy grate along the bottom to keep your sponge/mitt above any grime that settles in the water. Having wheels makes it easy to maneuver this around the car as you go from wheel to wheel, etc... One flaw, and the reason I took a way a star, is that there is a second raised "grate" to hold your sponge above the water but the plastic on mine broke the first time I used this thing and I haven't been able to use that grate since. I don't consider that a critical feature so it didn't bother me too much. Also, this thing is WAY overpriced. But good luck finding a cheaper one purpose built for car lovers. Such is Griot's Garage.

This is a pretty nifty wash bucket. We have a small stable of cars, and it sees quite a bit of use.
The one real complaint we have with this item relates to our geography. We are not blessed with a billiard table flat driveway, so keeping the bucket where you put it can be an issue. It would benefit from at least one locking caster.
Other than that it is truly handy. It is a little difficult to clean the bottom completely because of the inward protrusions into which the casters fit. A minor detail overall.

This truly is the ultimate car wash bucket. It has a lower grill so that the heavy debris falls to the bottom and won't allow your wash mitt to pick it up again. There is a molded-in measuring cup (patented design) in the grill for you to dispense the proper amount of car wash each and every time. The top sieve allows your wash mitt to lay on it without dripping over the side of the bucket. The 2 inch casters are included so that you can push the bucket around with your foot if your hands are full. The heavy-duty molded plastic tub holds a massive six gallons of water, has hash marks in liters and gallons on the inside wall and has a wonderful form-fitting handle. The bucket is 19 inches wide, 9 inches across and 9 inches deep. The snap-on lid keeps the water from splashing during transportation.
